The area of this town was settled as the year 2000 BC. In 9th century there settled first Slavs, which built there a strategic centre. In 11st century the clan Přemyslovci built a castle there. In the 14th century Hradec was a centre of region. Hradec has been a town since the year 1481. From this time the towm has several changed the holders. In the end of 19th century there were built new "Red chateau", White tower and sightseeing terraces near the old chateau.
